Attaching the Bucket or Attachment on
John Deere 2140 Tractor
500-Style Carrier/Attachment
– Start tractor engine.
– Extend bucket cylinders to angle carrier forward.
– Align tops of carrier with hooks.
– Raise loader until carrier engages hooks, then roll back
bucket/attachment.
– Raise loader high enough to check that straps engage pins on both
sides.
– Shut off JD 2140 Tractor engine.
– Remove quick lock pins from storage position.
– Install quick lock pins through attachment pins.
– Lower loader to the ground.
Skid-Steer Carrier/Attachment
– Raise both latch handles into the UP (unlatched) position.
– Start tractor engine and raise loader off ground.
– Extend bucket cylinders to tilt carrier forward.
– Slowly drive forward and raise loader, until carrier plates are
positioned under lip on bucket/attachment.
– Then roll back bucket/attachment (retract bucket cylinders).
– Bucket/attachment should rest against carrier plates.
– Lower loader completely to the ground and shut off JD 2140
Tractor engine.
– Lower latch handles to engage pins with latches on bucket/attachment.
– Start tractor engine.
– Tilt bucket/attachment forward (extent bucket cylinders).
– Apply down pressure on bucket/attachment against ground to verify that
pins are fully engaged in latches.
– Lower loader to the ground and shut off tractor engine.

Switch:
– Turn key to ON position. Do not start tractor engine.
– Press switch several times.
– Turn key to OFF position.
– Push and hold collar on female coupler.
– Connect male coupler.
– Release collar on female coupler.
– Connect cap and plug.
– Repeat Steps 2-5 for remaining hydraulic hose connection.
